This is a glossary and summary of events that occur in the Silmarillion. I'm aware of the included ancestry and terminology charts at the end of the book but this is a more condensed and personal version for my own understanding.

The Silmarils ¶

The Silmarils
Three powerful great jewels crafted by Fëanor to capture the essence and light of the Two Trees. They were hallowed by Varda so that no mortal flesh nor anything of evil can touch them without getting scorched and withered. They are also called the "Doom of the Noldor" after Morgoth steals them and are considered cursed. It is said that any Noldor trying to acquire the jewels will fail

When worn, he can perceive all things done by those wearing the lesser rings, and see and govern the thoughts of those that wear them
